Real-Time Variant Tracker™ supplemental results track resistance and therapeutically targetable variants as cancer biology evolves.
Personalis, Inc. (Nasdaq: PSNL), a leader in advanced genomics for cancer, today announced the commercial launch of optional Real-Time Variant Tracker supplemental results in the NeXT Personal molecular residual disease (MRD) test report. These results identify clinically relevant resistance and therapeutically targetable variants over time, during NeXT Personal testing. Real-Time Variant Tracker includes variants with established clinical significance, including associations with FDA-approved therapies and recommendations in National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) guidelines.
“At Personalis, we have continued to push the boundaries of what’s possible with MRD testing, beginning with ultrasensitive detection and now with variant tracking,” said Richard Chen, MD, President & Chief Medical Officer of Personalis. “Real-Time Variant Tracker was developed in recognition that clinically informative variants, including resistance mutations, can emerge during MRD monitoring.”
“The ultrasensitivity of NeXT Personal allows us to detect very low levels of ctDNA, which can be particularly important when we’re monitoring patients whose disease may be difficult to assess through conventional measures alone,” said Dr. Leo Shunyakov, M.D., medical oncologist and hematologist at Central Care Cancer Center. “I see opportunities for highly sensitive ctDNA testing in settings including historically challenging tumor types such as earlier-stage breast and lung cancers. And as we follow patients over time, we’re not only asking whether disease is present, but also how the biology of the cancer may be changing. Real-Time Variant Tracker follows those changes over the course of NeXT Personal testing.”
Personalis first introduced Real-Time Variant Tracker through an Early Access Program in January 2026, giving select clinical and academic users an opportunity to incorporate the supplemental results in real-world clinical practice.
Availability
With today’s launch, Real-Time Variant Tracker becomes commercially available as an optional supplemental result in the NeXT Personal test report beginning October 20, 2026.
